UITS bids farewell to Derek Olson

Derek,the news of your decision to leave surprised us all. We will miss you, but realize that exciting opportunities and challenges await you. It has been our honor to be your colleague for these past years. Having the privilege of being your co-worker has been one of the highlights with working here. It is with great sadness that we watch you move on to a new position, but we are happy that someone has recognized your skills. We have all benefited from your wit and wisdom and wish you every success on your career path.

TAG-CSU 2018 Drone Race Event

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG): CSU Chapter will be assisting the SE Regional Drone Racing Event on April 7th and 8th at the CSU Intramural Field.
The event is free for all spectators and will be hosted by the MultiGP Southwest Regional Qualifier.
Volunteers are needed for 2-4 hour shifts to help with safety on the racing field for both days.

Taco Friday in UITS

The IT department had their Taco Friday event on April 13th, 2018 and it was a blast!
The faculty and staff enjoyed eating Mexican food donating by the faculty and watching Star Wars.

Smartsheet Conference

Our very own Barbara Psalmond, Project Management Officer of the IT department, attended the
Smartsheet Conference on March 13th and 14th in Denver, Colorado. The conference was an informational training on Smartsheet 201, a project management tool with applications and reporting functions. It has the capability of creating dashboards that show brief synopsis from a project standpoint.

The 2018 Diversity Conference

The Diversity Conference took place on March 15th, 2018 and it was a remarkable success!
Hosted by the Office of Diversity Programs and Services, the event was segmented into two parts,
the Diversity Conference and the Legacy Dinner. The Diversity Conference took place from 8AM to 2PM in the Cunningham Center and the Legacy Celebration took place from 6-9PM at the Lumpkin Center. The two Keynote Speakers where Grammy-Winning Artist Chrisette Michele and Award-Winning Poet Carlos Gomez. Many of the IT faculty and staff attended the sessions and enjoyed their experience. Keep this event on your calendar for next year!

New Avanti Software Implementation

The LandDesk software has been replaced by the new Avanti software. Avanti is an integrated software solution that helps the Information Technology department manages time and attendance from one database. It automates software installations on PC and upgrades patches faster than manual updates. Perfect for mid to large-sized businesses, Avanti offers robust reporting solutions, with excellent customer service and implementation strategy. It also has easy to use workflow management systems for users. It will benefit the entire CSU community.

What is the CSU Repair Shop?

The CSU Student Repair Shop is a free technology service that the University of Information &
technology Services (UITS) provides for all currently enrolled students.
Our team is built for experienced students who are all trained in the services being provided.
The Repair Shop is now newly located on the main campus library and also houses a second
location on our downtown campus in Dillingham.





Each semester a student may utilize the Repair Shop services for free, up to three times.
The repairs range from hardware and software installs, virus clean-ups, broken screens, and even computer tune-ups.  Please be sure to visit the Student Repair Shop and utilize the amazing resources that our University provides. All students are welcomed and extremelyencouraged to ask questions about any problems students may be encountering!
